I've always got several knitting projects going -- don't you? This time, it's a scarf and cap for winter. I've been meaning to make a Slytherin scarf (told you I'm a dork!) for quite a while, but I couldn't really decide what to do with it. Copying the movies, as so many have done, is an idea that doesn't impress me. No self-respecting snotty pureblood would have a scarf knit in stockinette from scratchy acrylic. I've been scoping out yarns for most of the year, drooling over fine and fancy mohair.
And then I realized: it's not the material but the stitches that are the issue. With an idea from someone on one of the knitting LJ communities, I've been designing cabled snake patterns for the scarf. And Knitty's lovely cabled Coronet pattern will do nicely for the scarf.
